About

An immersive 360° video experience of the Mar Menor, incorporating augmented and live realities in obscure and profound guises, by Paul Sermon, Charlotte Gould and Jeremiah Ambrose.

This collaborative project and installation was born out of a two week residency programme Reset: Mar Menor Lab in September 2018 on the Mar Menor, a 170 km² saltwater lagoon on the south east coast of Spain. The project team from the School of Art at the University of Brighton (UK) were invited to undertake practice-based research on the changing ecosystem of this unique natural landscape, resulting from damages caused by intensive agriculture, increased tourism and rising sea levels. The majority of the primary research involved gathering 360° video material from observations, experiences and interviews during the residency. The overarching objective was to create a unique interactive 360° video experience of the Mar Menor that manifests the anthropocene effects on this natural landscape as augmented surreal and metaphysical interpretations of the artists' experiences during the residency. The final installation outcome Out of sight, out of mind was exhibited in Murcia, Spain in May 2019.
